Introduces the morphology and syntax of the Greek language of the New
Testament. The first semester covers the essentials of Greek grammar, develops
a basic working vocabulary and introduces the student to the fundamental tasks
of exegesis and textual criticism. Mondays and Wednesdays, 9:00-10:15 a.m.,

A study of the Old Testament of the Christian Bible against the historical and
cultural backdrop of the Ancient Near East. Special attention is given to the literary
genres, development of religious concepts and practices, and the contributions
of modern biblical scholarship. Mondays and Wednesdays, 11:00 a.m.-12:15 p.m.,
beginning August 25, 2008. The Beetle, 829 16th St.
A study of the major theological ideas, practices and institutions of Christianity
in terms of their biblical origins, historical developments and contemporary perspectives.
Students are introduced to Eastern Orthodoxy, Roman Catholicism
and Protestantism, and variations within each tradition. Monday and
Wednesdays,
1:00-2:15 p.m.
