Piper Certificate In Christian Studies

The Piper Certificate in Christian Studies * is Dayspring’s core curriculum. The Certificate, the equivalent of an academic minor, consists of at least six courses from among the following: The Religion and Literature of Ancient Israel, The New Testament and Christian Origins, Elementary Greek, 1 and 2, Christianity, History of Christianity, Christianity in American History, Christianity and Science, Introduction to Ethics, and Introduction to the Philosophy of Religion. The Certificate program is featured in the Bridge and Leadership Programs, and is also open to college students and other adults in the community.

* The Piper Certificate in Christian Studies is named for the family of Paul Piper who, through the CIOS Foundation, has contributed generously to the formation and staffing of this program.

The Bridge Program

The Bridge Program is a unique partnership between Dayspring Center for Christian Studies and Northwestern College, providing a fully accredited lower division college curriculum for high school graduates who plan to attend a four-year public university, but would like to begin by learning from Christian professors who engage the academy in dialogue and debate from the perspective of a Christian worldview. Bridge is a 30-semester credit program, comprised of courses in the Piper Certificate in Christian Studies (above) and a variety of electives designed to meet general education requirements for a bachelor’s degree.

The Boulder and Fort Collins programs include a residential option. See the Boulder and Fort Collins pages on this website for more information.

A variety of non-credit events and activities are included in the Bridge Program during the course of the school year, designed to help students integrate faith and learning.

Students are encouraged to enjoy the alpine beauty and many recreational opportunities to be found in the Rocky Mountains.

Peak Leadership Program

The Peak Leadership Program is a unique experience designed for college students and recent college graduates who are committed to a path of personal excellence and maximal influence for the Kingdom of God. The Leadership Program is offered in two tracks: Track one is a one-semester program offered fall and spring semesters. Track two is a two-semester program. Features include:

  • In Boulder and Fort Collins, residential life in a vibrant Christian community housed in former Greek houses close to CU and CSU.
  • Courses in the Piper Certificate of Christian Studies designed to help shape a Christian worldview.
  • Time with Dayspring staff and other Christian leaders in the community in interactive teaching/learning settings, including optional courses and seminars on topics such as Christian courtship, Christian marriage, Christian family, the disciplines and dynamics of spiritual growth, mentoring relationships, sharing your faith, leadership skills, conflict management and resolution, interpersonal communication, spiritual gifts, time stewardship, and financial stewardship.
  • A variety of assessment tools including personality, motivational, and behavioral analysis, resulting in a personal profile that helps students understand who they are as the workmanship of God, serves as a basis for charting a leadership development plan uniquely suited to each student, and provides measurement for personal and spiritual growth over the course of the program.
  • One-on-one and small group training with a certified life coach designed to help students focus, clarify, prioritize, and accomplish goals in a number of areas, including life purpose, career direction, discovering and honoring core values, brainstorming options and possibilities, strategizing, growth, productivity, and transitioning through change. Coaching includes identifying plans of action, agreements to change behavior, examining what is working and what isn't, and forwarding action through the completion of personal assignments.
  • Monthly meetings with a Christian mentor in a student’s area of professional interest, in partnership with Priority Associates (a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ) and Men’s Fraternity in Boulder County.
  • Ministry practicum: For track one students, hands-on ministry projects and assignments designed to cultivate a heart for servant leadership.
  • Ministry internship: For track two students, a twenty-hour per week practical ministry experience with Dayspring, or a local church or para-church ministry.
  • Leadership retreat and special events.
  • An optional summer mission experience in partnership with WorldVenture.

Time-Out Program

Students from colleges and universities around the country are invited to take advantage of their school’s time-out program (which allows students to take time off without losing their matriculation status) to study with Dayspring for a semester or up to a year. Residence in a Dayspring facility is contingent upon space availability. Students may choose from Dayspring's courses and supplement their program of study through The University of Colorado, Boulder Division of Continuing Education.

University+

Students who are enrolled in another college or university are invited to take courses through Dayspring to supplement their undergraduate education. Students who are concurrently enrolled full-time at a regionally accredited institution are given financial aid through Dayspring.

Summer School Program

Dayspring's summer program is a great option for high school graduates who want a head-start on their bachelor’s degree with Christian studies for college credit, as well as for current college students who would like to spend a summer supplementing their coursework and enjoying recreational opportunities in the Rocky Mountains.
